The newest member of the Parkin family

Jason married Natatlie on December 13th. The day started early. Jason ran around frantic to get ready to be at the Bountiful temple on time. Glade and I along with other family members drove through a snow storm to attend his marriage and sealing. We then met at the reception center the chantilly mansion for a luncheon and pictures. The food was excellent. There was a little break before the reception. The reception was from 7:00 to 9:00 there were alot of people that came to welcome and congratulate the two.

The weekend retreat

Glade chops
Kyle playing

Todd and Aaron hauling logs

Our two year supply

This weekend we went to the cabin for the first time as a family. We played games, watched movies, ate lots of goodies, and then there was work. We hauled and cut and chopped wood. Our task was to get this done before the snow flies.

Our next door neighbors came over and offered some of their wood that had already been chopped, ( there was about a four year supply ). All of us loaded, carried and stacked wood. We stacked wood long the wall to the entrance of the cabin and also stacked it under the deck.

When we were finished we loaded two truckloads of wood for the neighbors so that they could stack theirs for the winter. We did the loading and stacking in about an hour. If we had not helped them it would have taken them both about a day to do this tedious task.

Sunday morning we woke up to snow. The world is a beautiful place with a blanket of snow. Tell me if you agree.

Quilters are cool

Ev’ry star is different, and so is ev’ry quilt.
Some are bright, happy, soft, mild.
Ev’ry one is needed. For just what it can do.
They keep you warm and to make you happy.
These are a few of my creations.

Fall colors

We went to the cabin this weekend and this is what we encountered.

I went to pick up Jason and Natalie after a hike to the Farmington towers, I did not know I was going to go four wheeling. After 30 minutes of dirt road going 20 miles an hour, eating every 4 wheelers dust I finally found them.

Kyle is my Star Scout

Kyle had a court of honor on Wednesday September 24th. He has now been advanced to the rank of star. He received 10 merit badges also. He has earned all of the merit badges for his rank for Life. All he has to do is wait his time.

Picnic in the park

Emily, Glade and I took the girls to the park for a picnic the last week of August.

Maddie had a great time on the slide!

She found a friend to play tether ball with her.

Grandpa pushed both girls and others who wanted to ride the swing.

Ashlyn and Grandpa went on a boat ride together.

Its a good thing they came back for lunch!!!

Ashlyn did great on the rings with a little help from Grandpa!

Ashlyn loved just being able to run.

A great ending to a busy day is to sit with sisters and eat cookies together.
